OPERATION BLUE PRIDE'S
MISSION
Operation Blue Pride’s (OBP) mission is to welcome Veterans, Active Duty Military and Gold Star Families into the scuba diving community at low or no cost and provide basic and advanced scuba training and certification, regardless of physical or psychological injuries. OBP enables Veterans to participate in scuba training that is adapted for each individual's needs and in accordance with established certification guidelines.
OBP became active in Boston in March of 2014. Since then, OBP has arranged for and financed the open water and advanced certification of 400+ local area Veterans, ran Try Scuba, Advanced/Specialty Classes, Professional Level Scuba Training, Adaptive Instructor and Buddy Diver Training and Refresher programs, arranged for a number of guided boat dives in Cape Ann, Gloucester, Massachusetts, and has purchased and maintains equipment, including dry suits, available to Veterans for use (at low or no cost to the Veteran), so that OBP Veterans are able to meet and continue to dive together once certified.
OBP's open water scuba program is designed to be local to our Veterans' communities. One of OBP's goals is to help our Veterans expand their personal network within their area here at home. OBP Veterans meet other local Veterans through our program and OBP's ambition is to continue to expand their reach to other local Veterans through diving.
OBP is funded through private donations, grant funding from the Department of Veteran Affairs (adaptive sports grants), Scubapro https://www.scubapro.com/ and the support of the New England dive community. Every dollar that is donated to OBP goes directly to the support of our Veterans. OBP's Board of Directors and Staff is comprised of volunteers. Our Community
